My American Dream

My version of the American Dream would be to be happy and content in your country, working a good-paying and satisfying job, with a family that you care about and not having to worry about when your next paycheck is coming or when you are going to eat next. The people that get to achieve their own personal American Dream should be the ones that have worked hard enough to earn it. It does not come easy but that’s what makes the reward even better for him or her. With that being said, the opportunity is afforded and given to anyone. It’s up to them to work on that opportunity.

However, if the circumstances are such where you are physically unable to work and can only do what you can, then, in some cases, that person should be provided with government assistance, just enough to help him or her to get by and make ends meet.

A well-known person that has achieved the American Dream is Justin Timberlake and I believe that he has achieved the American Dream because as a child he was often bullied at school for being interested in music instead of sports like other boys his age and according to, “From 1993 to 1995, he performed on The New Mickey Mouse Club, along with pop stars Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and JC Chasez. Afterward, Timberlake and Chasez, along with Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick, formed the all-male singing group *NSYNC. The boy band would go on to become one of the hottest pop groups of the 1990s, first as an overnight sensation in Europe and then later in the U.S.” (Biography).

Justin Timberlake has since become a pop icon and is happily married to Jessica Biel. He is living proof that anyone can achieve the American Dream. He made the most out of a bad situation and is now a renowned musical artist.

For me, my American Dream would be to become a successful filmmaker in the United States. I have prepared for this through my work in college. I recently submitted a short film entitled ‘The Little Chapel” through Vimeo, Youtube, and Filmfreeway. It was opened to positive reviews from critics and audiences. It has been selected, featured and won awards all around the world. Afterwards, I released my trailer for my new film “Death Lay Here” and after a month on Filmfreeway, it is a semi-finalist at the Los Angeles Cinefest and has been selected at the Cefalu Film Festival in Italy. Two other projects are currently in post-production. They are “Afrit” a horror flick and “Nature” a short showcasing nature in all of its forms. I also have three other projects in development.

I have always believed that if you work hard at what you do and you are focused, you can achieve your very own American Dream. I find that distractions will detract people from their American Dream and it always helps to get inspiration from wherever you go, whether it be from a video on youtube or from a friend or family member. It is always good and necessary to be inspired from someone or something.
