Immortal Chronicles, a Snippet (Chapter 1)

**Disclaimer: Adult Language is used**

Dashing into the woods, the two mutants were racing for their lives. They stole some of the energy source from the villagers to harvest for their own. Hearing the authorities on the trail, the mutant found their way escaping into the forbidden dark forest, where the hunters halted their forces.

“Ma’am, what shall we do now,” asked one of the hunters.

“We wait,” replied the Commander, reloading her gun. “They’ll get them.”

Trudging on, through the dark part of the forest, the two mutants sat on a couple of mounds, insisting on catching their breath.

“Do you think we have enough,” said the first mutant.

“We should,” said the second mutant, holding up his bag, “It should be just enough for our kind. Then we’ll a couple of days later, and we’ll come back for more.”

“I don’t know, those hunters were on our tails!”

“Stop worrying…”

They heard a branch snap, they stood up, alarmed, quickly looking around. The wind picked up, as they clutched the bags, making sure they don’t lose the energy source. A couple of minutes later, they sat back down. The wind grew rather harsh, as the first mutant looked to find a feather floating around above his head. He grabbed the feather examining it, when suddenly, he was gasping for air, grabbing his neck, letting go of the feather. The second mutant looked at his comrade’s body rising in the air, when he looked to find a woman standing a few inches away. Her right arm was raised in the air, as it was her force choking the first mutant. The second mutant scrambled out of the forest with his bag, leaving his partner behind.

“How selfish of him,” the woman said, emerging closer, using her other hand to force him around, so they can be face to face. “He just left you behind.”

She lowered her right arm, as the first mutant floated down, almost close to passing out, yet still trying to fight against her power. The woman was wearing all black clothing; from her light jean jacket, tank shirt, jeans and shoes. Her dreadlocks flowed slightly past her shoulders. Her eyes were a piercing light gray color.

“You mutants fucking disgust me,” she hoarse, as she balled her right hand into a fist, making the first mutant explode right in front her. She caught the bag that contained the energy source before it fell onto the ground. “Your turn.”

The second mutant was speeding on the abandoned trail of the dark forest. He kept looking back, somewhat regretting that left his partner, also the bag of energy source. Only one bag to ration energy for his kind, he was cursing himself as he was desperately finding another escape route. Finding the river a few feet away, he realized that he was close to home. Closer and closer, he ran with all his might. Frantic he wasn’t moving fast enough, he exerted all his energy to make it to that river. He knew he could jump the riverbank, because the distance wasn’t that far to make it to the other side. Almost home free he jumped, but found himself stuck up in the air. Looking down at the river, he looked over and saw a hooded woman in a dark purple cloak, with only her left arm up in the air.

He was under her force, her control. Fear grew in his eyes, as he felt the bag slipping from his grip, and there wasn’t anything he could do about it. The bag sailed towards the woman, as she grabbed it with her right hand. Her purple eyes glared at the mutant, and flashed him a smile, revealing her fangs.

“Oh no, it’s you,” the mutant sputtered, trying to move, but couldn’t.

She laughed as she thrusted her left hand forward. The mutant felt himself burning up, when he looked to find the flames torching, from his feet up to his legs. He screamed as it echoed the forest, until the fire sealed his cries, disintegrating his entire body in midair. Pulling the hood from her head, her straight black hair, that was medium length emerged, hugging her face. She held the bag of energy up, looking up at the full moon.

Meanwhile, the hunters were still at their station, waiting. The Commander looked and found the two women revealing themselves, as they were walking towards the squadron. The Commander walked up and met with them. They handed the two bags of energy source to the Commander. She whistled for her second in command to retrieve them. He rushed up and grabbed them, and heading back to the vehicle.

“My lady, Raven,” the Commander acknowledged, giving a slight bow.

“Commander Pita,” said the woman in the cloak.

Raven just nodded her head, while looking around at the squadron at work.

“That’s the fifth or sixth time those pesky mutants stealing the energy source,” the woman in the cloak began to question. “Why is that?”

“My lady, we’ve been doing some investigating, and it appears that the mutant population is wiping out at a rapid rate,” said Pita. “They assumed that the energy source could help them from being extinct.”

“Don’t those fucking idiots know it doesn’t work on them because of their mutated DNA,” Raven snapped, rolling her eyes. “Their genomes are so complex, the energy source could possibly kill them where they, become even more mutated, or both.”

“You know they don’t know that,” said the woman. “They were just doing what they can to find the means to survive.”

“Well, they need to quit while they’re ahead.”

“Apologies, my lady, I will be doing a briefing and beef up the security. But we better get going, and take the energy sources back to the guardians. Have a good night, Queen Arika, Lady Raven,” said Pita, bowing one last time.

“Goodnight,” Arika and Raven said, as they watched Pita and her troops pack everything up and proceeded to leave the forest.

All the hunters got in their vehicles and finally began pulling off and away, leaving the forest as it grew quiet. Arika and Lady Raven was absorbing the full moonlight through the trees. The breeze swayed the tree leaves and branches, leaving the engulfed forest more serene. The women looked at each other.

“Rae?”

“My Queen?”

“What do you have planned,” Arika asked.

“As of right now, nothing. But I’m starving though.”

“Late night dinner, at the usual spot,” Arika suggested.

“Yes,” Rae smiled.

Arika vanished in front of her, as Rae morphed into a raven and flew high up, out of the forest, and into the city.
