Bridging the Gap: Africans and African-Americans

Okay…I don’t know if it’s just me or, what the deal is…but is there somehow a huge gap between Africans and African-Americans?

This has been bothering me for quite some time now. Africans want to move to the US to seek opportunity, while some African-Americans want to go back to Africa to get away from the racism and injustice that they cannot seem to see. This whole American Dream concept is complete nonsense, because it was never for us anyway…sorry to burst the bubble of those who still think it’s possible, but they don’t care about the people of color.

For us to be enslaved for CENTURIES, one would think we would all unite together instead of going against each other. I mean, we all have been hurt by Europeans and their descendants…and the fact that they came from immigrant ancestors, look at how they turn their backs against immigration altogether! LOL…like they got amnesia or something!

But anyways, back to the topic at hand here. It seems like, through my personal experiences, that there’s a love-hate relationship, but not necessarily a ‘hate hate’…but, it’s just kind of weird. Like they have love for you, but then they think that we’re beneath them or something. Then, that makes African-Americans here want to talk junk and get things worse. Then we have this clash here, and it makes me upset, because we don’t need to be going against each other. Just like all this black on black crime, we doing their work and people don’t even see this!

We all should trace back our ancestors, in which, mostly Africa unless otherwise, and connect back to our roots. Our ancestors were dragged here, involuntarily to SLAVE, get whipped, beaten and killed just so they can lavish in such riches in which WE NEED TO BE LAVISHING IN!! If you check the history books…not the history books they teach you in the so-called education system…actual FACTS, our people were indeed Kings and Queens, and we were basking in riches. And now, we have come down to this?!

Our connections need to get better, I can’t stress that enough. Now, my father has told me an interesting story. Because he asked a couple of African co-workers at his job why there is this gap between us, and one of them responded to saying that we didn’t fight back. I think it was a rather vague answer, because I’m sure our ancestors have tried really hard to fight back and not be taken away against our wills [hence, peep that scene in ‘Roots’]. I’m sure they did everything they could to have fought back, but the odds were against them with their guns and nets, and then going on that atrocious boat ride during the Atlantic Slave Trade, not to mention the souls we lost under the sea.

But until we see the light of day, this gap will continue to get wider and wider…unless we come together, appraise each other, because we are really cut from the same cloth!
