In the midst of this pandemic, there’s a time to be grateful of technology for bringing us together. Social media is needed like it never has before, so that we can connect with one another. From doing Zoom calls, IG Live Battles from artists, even IG Live concerts, as well as FaceTime and Google Duo loved ones. Yes, we can be thankful for having these apps during this hard time. Including this one social media app that has soared past all the others and gaining more attention by the second: Tik Tok.
Do you Tik Tok?
There’s so many that are still skeptical about the app; however, a lot of people are hopping on the Tik Tok wave, entertaining the masses who are having cabin fever. Many people who are on this app have displayed trending dance moves, comedy skits, and other fun motives to keep people wanting more. Because of that, many have continued to join, follow, comment and like videos. It’s basically Vine 2.0, the only difference is, you can make longer videos. For those who remembered Vine, it was jam packed videos that was crunched for six seconds. It also made a lot of people Vine famous. Now, the race is on for people wanting to become Tik Tok famous.
For the longest time, I strayed from it, when suddenly, I decided to give in and join the wave. It all started in February, I began doing improv videos and finding my niche to just be myself. I do my own silly dances, find trending voiceovers to do. Around the middle to the end of March, my numbers soared, from likes, to comments and follows. For me, it opened another door for embracing my artistic side. For others, people just want to get on it just to have fun. Of course, younger people are cringing as older folks are joining the Tik Tok craze, whereas us older folks joke about it in our own content.
The main point is that this is taking away from the hardship COVID-19 has impacted on this country and this world. Tik Tok, like other social media apps have brought us together to keep our heads above water. Hopefully this app continues to make strides, while keeping everyone entertained, whether you’re a content creator, or just watching the For You Page for laughs and enjoyment.
