Reduce Stress with Healthier Eating and Slowing Down!

– C. Imani Williams

We’re busy people! Everyone is doing ten things at once, multitasking, in efforts to beat the next deadline. It is very easy to ignore the small voice inside, screaming for a respite. With so much to do, it is easy to forget the importance of taking care to nurture our inner spirit. For maximum well-being, cut yourself some slack.

Why Yes, I Can Do That, Too

Stress levels are off the chart for far too many people, and the to-do list never really goes away. We won’t let it! Instead, we fit more into our days. We feel compelled to add just one more thing, as if to slow down just a bit, somehow equates to defeat. It is okay to say,” NO!”

Time Out!

Setting aside time to partake in quiet time is essential to well-being. Eating healthier, meditating, journal writing, and just sitting still, all help to reduce stress levels while restoring balance to our lives.

Eating Better

With the holiday season fast approaching, anxiety may be rearing her head. You can halt feelings of angst by slowing down. One way is to eat better in the coming weeks. Start with incorporating more fruits and veggies into your diet. This cuts down on the need for unhealthy snacking. I love fresh collard greens, cooked with smoked turkey, or chicken broth. Seasoned lightly with sea salt and pepper they are filling, healthy, and yummy.

Lighten Up

Skip the cookies, cakes, pies, and other sugary desserts. Replace them with fresh fruit. Sadly, I have to wait until late spring before my beloved watermelon is back in season. Have you tried seedless watermelon with yellow meat? It is fifth-dimension delicious. Sweet and juicy as ever, a delicious alternative to junk food.

Relaxing and healthier eating, a winning combination for better health.
