I WANT MY MTV!

BET, MTV, VH1…remember when they were all about music videos?

Well, you hardly see them now, right? Well, you can catch them in the wee hours of the morning, you may see an hour of music videos.

This is where you now know for sure these channel outlets have gone to shit. I mean, these three channels were streaming music videos nonstop! Even when an artist had a world premiere, it would be shown on one of these channels! That’s what they were all about when they were on the rise in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s.

You can’t even get a music video now…it’s now accessible on YouTube or something. Then you got substitute channels like VH1 Classic, MTV2 (which I don’t know if they show videos either) and Centric. MTV now has an outlet called MTV Classic, which you can watch music videos. Other than that, these channels show reality TV, shows produced by them, and movies.

When I was growing up, BET and MTV had slamming shows that still premiered music videos. Now you can’t even get that anymore. VH1 on the weekends had a music video countdown. BET had 106 and Park, and MTV had TRL. Remember those good old days? Now it’s just shows, shows, and shows, and infomercials.

Speaking of shows, BET had Video Soul with Donnie Simpson. MTV had your VJs and they delivered the MTV News. These channels were diverse but still remained on the subject of showing music videos. I guess now Centric has taken over because they still show videos from time to time. VH1 classic plays classic videos. MTV and MTV2 should be ashamed for hardly showing videos at all! I mean damn, live up to your actual name…MUSIC TELEVISION!! I WANT MY MTV, all of that! Can’t go back now, only moving forward to the nonsense. Now, in the times we living in, videos are streamed and YouTube is the access, or other outlets like Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, Vevo, and so on and so forth.

I miss the times where you can get to watch videos with just a click of a button.
